Requesting Records and Accommodation Verification

Disability Support Services( DSS) only maintains records for five years after you leave the university. We can send you a letter verifying the accommodations you used while here, or copies of your disability documentation, if requested in that time frame. Requests are accepted Monday- Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm. Please allow five business days for receipt of the requested documentation. Requests for documentation or verification letters should be emailed to the DSS general email account. Be sure to inform DSS if you need access to your documentation or a verification letter. Records and verification letters will be sent digitally and encrypted.

Graduate School Standardized Exams

If you received academic accommodations while at George Washington University as an undergraduate, you may be eligible to receive accommodations on examinations that are required by various advanced degree programs. Documentation requirements for these programs can be strict.

Please review the exam process for requesting accommodations three to six months prior to the examination. Examples of standardized exams :

For exam applications that include forms to be completed by Disability Support Services, please include a copy of the required accommodation verification forms, if applicable in your email to DSS. Complete the sections relevant to you as the applicant and leave the accommodation sections blank. DSS personnel will complete the form requesting accommodations only if our files contain the documentation required by the testing agency.

Many testing organizations require current documentation. If you need new documentation, plan accordingly. Psychoeducational testing could take six weeks or more to obtain.

If you're not sure if your documentation meets the requirements of the testing organization for the exam you want to take, talk to your DSS representative.

Professional Board Examinations

If you received academic accommodations while at George Washington University as a graduate or professional student, you may be eligible to receive accommodations on state and national boards. Documentation requirements for these programs can be strict.

University employees will not be able to comment on the decision-making metrics of outside entities.
