Katherine is a member of the DSS Strategic Skills Services team, working specifically as a Career Development Specialist.  In that role, Katherine works with individual students to set goals, create professional identities, and connect with university resources to help jumpstart their career paths. She brings over 11 years of teaching experience at a variety of different institutions to her work at Disability Support Services.

Outside of her support role, Katherine connects Disability Support Services with other offices across the university to help meet the George Washington University’s diversity and inclusion goals.

Katherine works with a variety of community organizations, including Split This Rock Poetry Festival. She is also slated to guest edit a forthcoming edition of the Journal of Fandom Studies, which will focus on the intersection of fan studies, pedagogy, and disability. Her academic work can be found in the Journal of Fandom Studies, Pennsylvania English, and MediaCommons: The Future of the Book. She regularly presents at the Popular Culture Association conference, and she is the editor of Fandom in the Classroom, forthcoming from University of Iowa Press.

Katherine’s creative work can be found in Gargoyle Magazine, On the Issues Magazine, The Rumpus, and Cold Takes. In her spare time, she enjoys needlework, particularly cross-stitching.
