Application Deadline: Rolling Basis

DSS awards scholarship money to assist eligible disabled students with their studies at GW. These awards cover costs associated with tuition, books, adaptive equipment, transportation and other disability-related needs.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a DSS scholarship, you must:

be enrolled in either a part-time or full-time degree program at GW
be registered with Disability Support Services
have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with GW's Office of Student Financial Assistance

Personal and Financial Statements

Personal Statement

Applicants must submit a letter describing their disability status and outlining the expenses that the DSS scholarship(s) would cover. Applicants should clearly demonstrate that no other resources are available to address their particular needs, describing in detail the circumstances that merit the award of the scholarship. The personal statement should also include a discussion of each applicant’s personal, educational, and career goals. Finally, applicants must include a description of their anticipated course loads (part-time or full-time status) for the upcoming academic year.

Financial Statement

Applicants should append to their personal statements a detailed list of anticipated disability-related expenses. These expenses can include costs incurred for personal care, specialized equipment, medications, etc.
