Requesting Additional Accommodations

Students who have been previously approved for Disability Support Services (DSS) accommodations may request additional accommodations through the DSS Student Portal (SharePoint) using the Additional Accommodations Request Form. Along with completing the Additional Accommodation Request Form, students will need to meet with the DSS representative.

Please complete the following four-step instructions to submit updated documentation for provisional accommodations, request an extension to your temporary accommodations, or request a new accommodation.

  1. Please log onto your DSS Student Profile via SharePoint. You can access SharePoint via this SharePoint link or by typing in https://gwu0.sharepoint.com/sites/wfs.dss/SitePages/Home.aspx into your browser.
  2. Click on the "Request Additional Accommodations" tab.
  3. Complete the following form and make sure you select "Additional Accommodation Request" as the category.
    • Click "Add Attachment" and upload your new documentation.
    • After you are done, press "SAVE".
  4. Your new accommodation request has been submitted. Your DSS Representative will reach out within one to two weeks after your documentation has been reviewed and approved.

Students may request that DSS review documentation that they previously submitted for a former review as supporting documentation for the requested additional accommodation(s). The student should write " REVIEW OF CURRENT DOCUMENTATION" in the notes sections of SharePoint. Suppose the documentation that was previously submitted does not provide information regarding the functional limitations of the condition and how the functional limitations necessitate the requested accommodations. In that case, students are requested to submit updated supporting documentation that aligns with the DSS Documentation Guidelines. The DSS representative will inform the student if additional documentation is needed.
