Students Enrolled in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS)

Students in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) seeking classroom or clinical accommodations should submit their Academic Application. SMHS students already registered with DSS seeking additional accommodations should submit an Additional Accommodations Request.

Shannon Bernick serves as the primary contact at DSS for all SMHS students. SMHS students with questions regarding classroom or clinical accommodations may contact Shannon for assistance.

Special Instructions: Students in the following SMHS programs do not need to submit faculty notifications through the AIM portal every semester. Instead, DSS will directly notify the student's program liaison of their approved accommodations. Students in these programs should contact their designated DSS program liaison to discuss and implement their approved accommodations:

Clinical Accommodations: SMHS students may request clinical accommodations through DSS. Supporting documentation should demonstrate a clear and direct link between the student’s disability-related needs and the requested clinical accommodations. Due to the specialized and experiential nature of the clinical setting, DSS will work closely with the student’s program leadership to determine eligibility for clinical accommodations.

Verification of Accommodations:  DSS can provide official verification of accommodations. This documentation can be used by SMHS students who are applying for accommodations on their medical school entrance and/or professional licensure exams. More information on how to apply for accommodations on professional exams can be found on the exam administrators’ websites:
