Requesting Records and Accommodation Verification
To request a letter verifying history of accommodations at GW or copies of documentation on file, reach out to [email protected]. Allow up to 2 weeks for processing. DSS maintains records for five years after students leave GW.
Graduate School Standardized Exams
If you received academic accommodations while at George Washington University as an undergraduate, you may be eligible to receive accommodations on examinations that are required by various advanced degree programs. Documentation requirements for these programs can be strict.
Please review the exam process for requesting accommodations three to six months prior to the examination. Examples of standardized exams :
- Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
- Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
- Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
- Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
Disability Support Services (DSS) can provide you with a letter to the testing agency that confirms your status as being registered with DSS, the accommodations that you were granted, and the period covered during which you used your accommodation. Reach out to [email protected] for assistance.
Verification Forms
For exam applications that include forms to be completed by Disability Support Services, please include a copy of the required accommodation verification forms, if applicable in your email to DSS. Complete the sections relevant to you as the applicant and leave the accommodation sections blank. DSS personnel will complete the form requesting accommodations only if our files contain the documentation required by the testing agency.
Many testing organizations require current documentation. If you need new documentation, plan accordingly. Psychoeducational testing could take six weeks or more to obtain.
If you're unsure if your documentation meets the requirements of the testing organization for the exam you want to take, talk to your DSS associate.
Professional Board Examinations
If you received academic accommodations while at George Washington University as a graduate or professional student, you may be eligible to receive accommodations on state and national boards. Documentation requirements for these programs can be strict.
